http://www.essentialtravel.ie/ski-insurance.asp went with these last year, cheap enough seems like good cover, didn't have to use it though :pac:

Check out ACE - I have gone with them twice before. I got one week for about €26 and I got a years cover last year for under 300. USIT wanted to charge me 490!!

Most other insurance companies in Ireland are underwritten by ACE anyway so you are probably going to end up with them anyway if u have to claim.

I never had to claim though so not sure what their claims department is like!!

123.IE, VHI and Multi Trip all have good policies for wintersport including Off piste with guides and one or two without.

Dogtag and skiclub uk are probably the best specialist in winter sports cover

Have used 123.ie the last couple of times myself.

Only claim I've yet had to make was with VHI, but that was just covered under their regular worldwide part of the normal policy and not a wintersports policy because I was "walking" wounded. I couldn't actually walk, but making your own way to the medical centre aparently made a difference.

i've used getcover.ie they have a few different levels of cover depending on what your looking for...http://www.getcover.ie/Docs/ben_gen_winter2.aspx & give discounts if you have vhi & I should say that I used to get an extra discount because I worked for an associated company.

I have worked in the insurance industry for while & I would normally not get insurance when travelling in europe. I don't think the baggage cover is great even if you do keep the receipt for everything you own & the EHIC is grand medical cover imo. I believe the proper cover is important when skiing though, afaik the cost to bring someone off a mountain can be huge.
