Hope so, think Damon may be a bizzare piece of casting, but a great story and nice to see rugby at the heart of a relatively mainstream film.

Not sure about Damon's SA accent. ;)

Still, great to see a movie involving rugby reach the world.

In Big Movie Voice"Directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Morgan Freeman AS Nelson Mandela.....".........and the Oscar goes to....
    :o

Really, looks good in the trailer, looking forward to seeing it, when is it released here, presumably early next year sometime?

    Great storyline and cinematography.

Terrible accent by Damon and not convinced Freeman makes a great Madiba.

I actually think Freeman is a good choice.

I'd be confident enough considering Eastwood's directing it. He rarely puts a foot wrong. Don't mind Damon and Freeman too much... although the casting could probably have been a little less 'mainstream'. Can't wait to see it all the same!

I really really hope they don't give rugby a misleading image, that would be terrible.

Should have cast Pienaar to play himself, he isnt THAT old yet. A bit of makeup here and there and he would look 10 years younger :D

He'll probably start crying thinking of memories. :D

Have you seen Goodbye Bafana, Dennis Haysbert did a good impression. Freeman is too cool. Mandela was cool but not like Freeman portrays him.

Not so sure that this movie is about rugby, it's more about a man's struggle to bring different nations together. After all the boks are playing so how can the images be misleading

I don't think the poor accent will ruin the film. Maybe its just me, but that's something I generally get over pretty quickly when watching a film. However Damon should really have bulked up a bit for the role... he's a little on the scrawny side.

Trailer looks amazing imo. Can't wait to watch it.

Nobody does a better Nelson Mandela than Harry Enfield.

Damon got in on three things

    1)big name
    2)Blonde hair
3)Pretty much the exact same chin as Pienaar

    :D

Nah, I think its much better to have the draw of someone like Damon. Ultimately its a film, not a rugby game, and Pienaar could well be a **** actor after all. He doesn't quite fit the part, but I think people will get over that.

Sorry, looks like horrible American schlock full of 'momentus' speeches and clever timeless aphorisms. I'll be avoiding this like the plague. Give me This Sporting Life any day over this 'important' nonsense

Wonder who would've been better to cast as Pienaar than Damon...

A 300 sized Gerard Butler? Or a James Bond sized Daniel Craig?

I think I'm just going on body size rather than suitability :) anyone got any suggestions?

Its not as if either of them are particularly tall though, and neither really looks like a lock. And Damon is a better actor than either so feck it.

Acording to celebheights.com (:o) damon is only 5'8" so he on the short side as well.

What about Mickey Rourke? He's a bit old, but got that gnarly 2nd row look about him. Bit of make up could take years off him...

There are a lot of low camera angles in the trailer, so I think they've used that to make damon look taller.

    Dolph Lundgren....problem solved

no no no, Sting should have been cast.

    Sting .......................................................Pienaar

Interested to see how this reviews. Clint can do great movies.
Generally tho, sport as a vehicle for film has a fairly appalling hit ratio.
