Id say it was the latter somehow or something along those lines. I know we have quite a few idiots in UCC but i dont know if theres people who would do something that could put so many at such a risk.

Well I just heard the bell going there, so it can't have been closed long. There was a fair old reek of gas alright, and the place was packed. First time I've ever been evacuated, I was very excited!

You've supposed to have a space after a comma and there shouldn't be capitalisation after a comma either.

Write it out a hundred times.

I'm assuming everything's open again today? I'd hate to have to have a nap instead of a study this afternoon :pac:

Feck, I'm not on the main campus at all today. Now I'm just going to have to skip lectures under my own steam!

evacuated again? for crying out loud.. I smelt gas walking through campus a couple of hours ago I think. the gas fairy up to his old tricks...

I could smell it fairly strongly yesterday in the Kampus Kitchen, and someone else said the New Bar had it aswell.
It seems the whole college is being taken over.

I wonder did anyone bother ringing Bord Gais, like all those ads constantly tell us?

It's probably just some retard who thinks he's clever ****ing around with stink bombs that smell like gas or something.

Good idea for a medicine student who wants to get an upper-hand mind you. Flake into brookfield library. Let off gas-smelling bomb. Everyone's study is interrupted.

    Don't do this.

In boole 4 this morning and a very strong smell of gas came in and we all evacuated a good ten minutes before any announcement! :o

Anybody have any real clue of what's happening because people were becoming faint and whatnot...doesn't effect me because I'm just that tough you see!! :D

Being in Boole 4 was fun when the smell of gas came.

Nothing better than talking about Renaissance poetry with the smell of gas around. Aaaahhhh :D

Happened again today, I was in the Boole for English at around 11 and we had to leave. Got to go up the emergency exit way too, which would probably cause more emergencies than prevent cos it's so badly lit. Anyone know what's the story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭hudsonriver

My 10 lecture in the kane was delayed today. Security wernt letting anybody into south wing, some smell of gas outside.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,281 ✭✭✭Ricky91t

lol I highly doubt that a stink bomb would evacuate the whole Library(twice!),It's a bit odd it's happened twice though,I'd assume they'd have a system which shuts off the gas the second theres a drop in pressure in the pipes?

I have to say it was really strong this morning,Didn't even noticed it first thing and then it was very noticeable,Supose it goes through the vents..Lets hope they've sorted it now :pac:

Oh yeah, I got to open the door which led us outside. I should be a hero :D.

And that place is terribly lit. Imagine if there was smoke as well

Were there any lectures in the Boole at all today so?? I managed to sleep in till 1 so I missed most of my lectures.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭Censorsh!t

I had an exam and a lecture in the boole today...one at ten, and one at five.

I couldn't smell a thing...but then again, my nose is kinda blocked.

I found out what actualy happened today(my father was at a meeting about it).

Basicaly they have been testing the ventilation system in the library during the week.do knwo exactly what. But see in the science building they release gas from the roof at certain points in the day and apparently the gas was released at the same time as the testing was going on in the library. With the winds etc etc the gases got circulated through the ventilation system.

Same thing heppened the next day then.

Na dont think so, why then was their a smell of gas in kane, old bar, boole basement, liabary, orb, and up to the student centre.

All this when the wind was blowing the opposite direction to the supposed gas flow . It woudl also take a very large ammount of gas to get that sort of dispersion.

Yeah it does sound weird but im just repeating what staff were told at the meeting. They probably wouldnt tell them what actualy happened anyway.
