    Hi all,

Have a PS3 10 months and still never played it online. Interested in playing games like PES 2009 and Far Cry 2 online but not sure how.

Firstly I have broadband and a router which sends it around the house etc.

Apart from that, I dunno what I have to do?

Do I pay a fee to Sony?
Is it real easy to set up (not computer minded)
    Presume it is brilliant?
    Any drawbacks?

Thanks for your help. Would like to be up and running for the Xmas break.

    No.
Yes. (a firmware upgrade may be needed for your Router, otherwise it's quite simple. Set both PS3 and router to enable UPnP.)
Playing online is great and really different to playing single player.
No drawbacks that i can think of apart from quitters.

First of all connect your PS3 to the wireless network Settings>Network Settings>Internet Connection Settings. Choose the "easy" option and from there on it should be very straightforward! (Make sure you have your wireless router password)

Next go to the Playstation newtwork menu on the XMB, you'll see the "Sign up for the playstation network" thingy, go into that and it's done step by step. After which you should be ready! (No Fees :D)

Odds are if you try playing a game whilst connected to the internet you'll be prompted to update to the latest version of PS3 firmware. It's not compulsory to play games offline, but to play online it's a must. Just go to settings>System Update, may take a while, but tis worth it!

The PSN is a fairly solid system, very few problems and very user friendly.

Feel free to add me as a friend on PSN :)

i wouldn't worry about it, if it's a netgear the username is prolly admin and the password is most likely password. These defaults may be different for diferent brands.
