    Will Hiro save Charlie

I'm in two minds over this. I always loved Charlie and the relationship between the two characters.... But if she is eventually saved by Hiro, I think it could really destroy it. It was a really touching story in "Six Months Ago" and, though it was a sad ending, it was a really good ending. I think the very idea of Hiro going back, though realistically touching, is practically really sketch..... Tonight's episode is gonna rest really really heavily on the talents of the episode writer. TBH, I really hope Bryan Fuller did this one. He writes a good love story.

I know nothing of the episode, but i dont think he will ultimatly save Charlie in the end because it will be the case of the time traveling massive plot holes again.

It should be a good episode though.

ok i might be wrong but did Hiro not already go back in time to try and save her in season 1? she died of a brain tumor or sumthing along those lines the second time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,779 ✭✭✭A Neurotic

Yeah, I'm not getting that. Didn't he go back before to save her, only to learn that her death was inevitable? And I don't think he could possibly save her, as it probably would screw up the timeline - I'm sure Sylar's use of her memory was somewhat significant at some stage...

Actually, they never really stuck on that. She told Hiro that she was going to die of a brain tumour and then he accidentally teleported through time before getting the chance to kiss her. But this doesn't mean she wasn't still killed by Sylar (though, yes, in a way, they did imply that he had saved her from Sylar but not from her own fate).

Sylar lost all his powers to the Shanti Virus in Volume 2. In the prelude to volume 3, he regained his powers of Intuitive Aptitude and Telekinesis. All his other powers were lost, so after "How To Stop An Exploding Man", he'd have lost Charlie's power of enhanced memory anyway.

    Not long now!

How long, Rich? I haven't bothered to figure out the time difference etc....?

As an addendum to my previous post, I'd like to mention that I'd forgotten that Hiro had provided Charlie with a plane ticket to Japan so it's actually reasonable to believe that he saved her from getting murdered by Sylar, though she would have succumbed to her tumour anyway. However, since that episode, we've met 3 healers (Linderman, Hiro's mom and Jeremy)... Actually, there's 4 if you count Peter (having now taken Jeremy's power)... So there ya go, anything's possible. He could save her.

    IT'S OUT!!!!!!!!!

    MY POST CONTAINS SPOILERS, YO!

Whatcha think? I thought the whole episode was basically crap, except for the last 5 minutes.

I really don't think we need HRG backstory every time someone goes into the past. It wears a little thin.

Hiro saving Charlie was totally anti-climactic and his battles with Sylar were fairly lame. The only good part was when he tells Sylar "you die alone" etc etc. It was especially good because we know it to be, so far, untrue.

The last few minutes were good, Samuel's evil really coming out. The revelation at the end with dead Mohinder was GREAT! Unfortunately though, it's definitely gonna be undone. I look forward to seeing how it happened n'all though.

Is it possible that Mohinder is 'Joseph', Samuel's brother who they've recently 'lost'? Not very probable but could be a good twist....!

Outstanding episode....the continuity was amazing!, cleverky constructed, all the Hiro/series 1 potential plotholes addressed and filled. It was really well written and acted, especially HRG.

It was also an episode that required concentration, just like series 1....you had to watch and listen carefully to get it all in, a sign of a good show. Next weeks ep. with Mohinder and Knepper is gonna be class!

I think Mohinder was involved in Josephs death somehow.

Good episode over all, but really didnt enjoy the HRG filler bits. They where completely pointless to the episode. I really hate time travel when they start messing with time lines as it always leaves massive plot holes.

Next weeks episode looks good. Session 4 has been great so far, needs more Peter though.

Did anybody else get a few seconds of Burn in there download?

Absolute snore-fest. Something big needs to happen soon because this drip-feeding of the storylines makes for very tired viewing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,779 ✭✭✭A Neurotic

Didn't quite live up to my expectations, but it was well-handled and made sense.

HRG's random affair thing was a load of bollocks though. Unless it becomes more relevant in the present-day timeline soon, it was absolute filler.

Oh, to add to my post: I liked the revelation that Sylar wasn't in the Burnt Toast Diner to kill Charlie but simply decided to on the spot when she mentioned her ability in passing. I'd always just assumed that he was there because of her. What I didn't like about the scene was when he quite rudely made an explosion noise relating to her aneurysm. It just seemed a little 'villainy', not really in the kinda style of Sylar's personality. But yeah, nice revelation.

I take it HRG's love interest will kick off soon with the return of his former colleague. With wifey and Tracey out of the picture there's no stopping him now.

It was a given that something would happen to Charlie, it would have messed everything up. Having said that I really wanted Hiro to punish the carnival folk. He could have beaten them at their own game, vanishing a person one by one until they returned Charlie. Overall, a good episode.

I really enjoyed this one. We knew Samuel was a prick, but now we know the extent. Interested to see why he wants to save Mohinder (one of the more useless characters in the show).

That scene where Hiro told Sylar that he was going to die alone was fantastic. You could see real sadness in Sylar's face for a few seconds - great acting by Quinto.

    Great season so far.

Heroes scored a 2.6 rating in the overnights with adults 18-49, actually up a tenth from last Monday’s preliminary 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. Trauma was actually up 11 percent to a 2.1 rating despite NBC announcing that it wouldn’t be ordering additional episodes.

Just watched it and thought it was brilliant. The criticism that this season is going too slow is ridiculous. We've had 2 seasons of crash, bang, wallop super hero **** and its brought this show to deaths door.
Now we have a slow building story that doesn't involve the end of the world. Thank God.

I couldn't pin point any glaring obvious time travel plot holes like past seasons so that alone made me happy. I had to laugh at the two points of the show that reminded me of Time Travel classics....... Hiro at the start bumping into Sylar and saying "Oh boy" like our Quantum Leaping friend Sam Beckett. And verification of his plan working by looking at his image in the photo like Marty Mcfly in Back to the Future 1.

If there was a pole I'd give this episode top marks. My faith is restored in this show. I love it again.

    Wow,

I've been calling for the show to get cancelled, due to the garbage being spewed this season, but I can honestly say that this episode is probably the single best episode since season 1.

Fantastic continuity. Fantastic storylines and plots. I went through a wide range of emotions while I watched it. It was gripping, enjoyable and funny at times.

Seeing the likes of Isaac, Sylar vs Hiro, old HRG etc all brought back great memories. T-Bag was great as usual and the ending was a shocker and something to look forward to for next week.

If only every episode was this good, like season one.

But I'm not going to complain... that was heroes at it's finest. Absolutely cracking episode! 10/10 from me!

Apalling episode. Bored me absolutely rigid. How can someone say there is continuity, when there isn't actually. The only thing that wasn't changed was none of the major characters died in the past. Worst episode of the season, and that's saying something. The last time i watched an episode like this, and looked at the clock for most of the episode was in season 2, when the episodes were based in Cork..

That's because it dug up the storylines from series 1.

I think he was there to kill charlie. chandra suresh had her on the list and he remembered it and went to the diner. he didn't know what ability she had though, so he watched her until it became clear. This was in the heroes comic book for season 1. BTW, the comics are class. you can download them from the nbc website for free. reading them is like watching a mini episode!

I also liked when Hiro called himself a moron :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,906 ✭✭✭J-blk

It wasn't terrible but really, it was more or less a rehash of a season 1 story told differently... what annoys me is that after all these years of Hiro moaning how bad it is to mess with the timeline and changing big things is bad and here he changed everything - too bad they don't show us any of the consequences of the changes he made, but knowing this show, it seems there are no consequences if it doesn't work for the writers in this case...

HRG and the co-worker was utterly pointless filler...

It also surprises me that past Sylar knows enough about his core ability to destroy Charlie's aneurysm but doesn't realize that he can actually "take" an ability without having to slice heads open and kill the person (something I think Elle helped him do later on) - he could have taken Hiro's ability without him having to stand still for the head slice...

I'd also guess that Samuel's guilt over Mohinder (and fear of the others in the carnival) is because he killed "one of them" - every other violent act he has committed or ordered was against normal people... and that's why he has to undo it...

I thought it was one of the stronger episodes of the season. Still though I would have liked to see some of the consequences of his actions.

Parkman story was good too i suppose.

    HRG was completely boring.

Seems to have picked up, over all, still a little bit clueless as to what the plan of the carnies is.

I've slated a lot of the past episodes and considering that this episode was mainly Hiro I was surprised how this kept my interest for nearly the whole episode, the weakest part being the HRG parts but hopefully its building up to some women scorned drama in later episodes and a plus side Claire is put back into her rightful position.

Skylar as always is back to his menacing best of season 1 and the tête a tête with Hiro worked well. I remember in season 1 it was all about people trying to decipher symbols and time lines and I'm glad that this seems to be the direction that the writers are taken. Over all season 4 has been an improvement but it still needs some direction and an end product but as were 1/3 through there's plenty of time. It's been a long time since I'm actually looking forward to the next weeks episode and just hope they go with the characters they have instead of trying to evolve new ones.

Agreed. The deaf girl is an absolute disaster of a move. The carnies were a good move though.

I'm happy that they are trying to introduce new characters slowly. I kinda like the def girl. Even if she is only a love interest for Peter. And now we have HRG's love interest introduced. Actually now that I think about it....... Love is the theme for this season.

    Peter - Def Girl
    HRG - Blonde slut
    Claire - Gretchin
    Hiro - Charlie
    Ando - Hiro (I mean Hiro's sister)
    Parkman - Wife Parkman
Tracey - ??? Nothing yet. HRG maybe.

And Sylar is all alone. Just like Hiro told him. Aww.
