Anyone know the cost and process of getting a channel onto Sky Digital? Like is it that hard or expensive as there is a load of religious channels on it?

The religious channels have a hell of a lot more money behind them than you might think. :D

The big cost is getting onto the Sky EPG. Without that, you're a nobody! Well at least as far as the average Sky viewer is concerned.

Outside of that you obviously have to set up your playout, uplinks etc.

Cost of uplink at 2006 prices was €110,000 per Mbit/s per annum.

    There are four main items
    1) Uplink costs (dependent on how much bandwidth you plan on using)
    2) Cost of linking to uplink point (ditto plus other factors)
    3) EPG charges (bend over !) Dependent on if you want full 8 day EPG, Now and Next or just a LCN (channel number)
    4) Encryption charges (dependent on which -if any package tier you want to be on)

4 is optional (as is 3 in theory) if only going for 1 and 2 its probably best to bypass $ky altogether and deal with an Astra 2/Eurobird multiplx operator.

Dependent on what country/ies you operate (produce content) and uplink from you may need one of those licence things ?

I believe that TV3 gave 250,000 euro to Sky Ireland in 2007. But this may not be for their position on 103, I think TV3 use Sky for a number of things.
