When they don't include the bloody salary or even a salary scale on the advertisement. I even emailed for the job description and salary scale and they sent the J. description but no salary scale!!!

What is that all about, is it some secret or something? I mean its kind of important to know how much you are possibly going to be living on before you have to go through an interview!!!

I just think its bad practise!

I knew the first reply would be from the spelling police.

That's because places want to give you absolute mimimum wage when you start, saves them money. And it's bad form to ask about money when you're applying, that should only really come up once you're in your second interview. Well, employers think it's bad form anyway

Usually I apply for a job that I am qualified to do , so I have some idea of the pay scale involved.

it depends really. if you've got a job and are considering moving to this one then yes, salary info is important. however, if you have no job, then it doesn't fcuking matter how much it is, it's better than sitting on your hole all day drawing the social.

I agree I find it pretty annoying.

yeah i agree with you OP. when i was in colege, we used to have companies coming in doing little presentations when they were looking for people. Once in the Q&A section I asked what was the starting salary, and the guy told me that was a terrible question to ask, well fcuk you too buddy, why would I bother working for you if someone else is gonna pay me more?

BS the lot of it, unless you would rather go to work than sit at home, write a novel, travel the world or any of the other activities you could do given the choice, a job is all about the money.
In a climate where companies are using the recession as an excuse to reduce pay and lay off people across the board I'm as loyal as my next paycheck. Many of them don't need to at all, others could easily carry the burden for a while if they were truly as loyal to their employees as they often claim to be.
I know this isn't true of small companies where everyone knows everyone, but for the big feckers it holds.
The fact that the first thing you get after being hired is an ID number says it all.

Ask what your salary will be, and when they tell you, look disappointed and ask for more.

    Remuneration, you've failed the interview.

    Try minimum wage and up.

Because he misspelt a word on the internet forum he should only look for minimum wage jobs? Wow. That’s pretty condensing.

Not only is it condensing, it's downright outragous.

Why are you presuming that i am a 'he' ???

They don't show the salary, so's that they can offer what they think that can get away with. If you cartwheel across the floor in your Armani suit, you'll be offered a lot more than you would be if you crawl in sobbing and begging, with the arse hanging out the back of your trousers, if indeed you can afford a pair of trousers.

Unless you have a very female specific name, men on here always assume users are male for some reason, best not to ask!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,145 ✭✭✭DonkeyStyle \o/

Anyway, yeah... they don't even give a ballpark figure, then when eventually they ask you what your salary expectation is, they get all píssy and put on their best lemon-eating expression.
I've heard the claim that they don't want to attract people who're just in it for the money, well just tell us then... your shítty salary will turn away most of said people... problem solved.

I got told once when I was on the dole that I'd be told how much they were paying and how many hours a week I'd get when I'd been working there a couple of days.

Needless to say I declined their generous non-offer.

Now I own my own Fortune 500 company!
We sell bumper stickers that say 'Fortune 500' on them

C'mon foodie66, our minimum wage jobs await!
