Terrible TV3 & TG4 Analogue Reception in Co.Cork

    Hi folks,

    Recently (the last 2 -3 weeks) reception from TV3 & TG4 in Co. Cork (Midleton area) has been awful, extremely fuzzy/snowey picture, though sound is not too bad. RTE1 & 2 are perfect. Has anyone else experienced such problems? I have external aerials, could the TV3/TG4 aerial be faulty?

    If this is sudden, it is likely that you are receiving RTE 1 &2 on VHF from Mullaganish. TV3 & 4 come from the same transmitter but are UHF.
    Many masthead amplifiers are passive on VHF and active only on UHF.
    It is likely that your amp or power supply unit has died , or a bad connection means the amp is not receiving power.
    This would leave you with perfect 1&2 but almost non existent TV3 and TG4.
    Do you also receive South Coast (BBC , ITV etc.) and how does that look?
    I am not aware of any transmission problems on analogue at the moment.

    I have had similair problems in the last week where I have perfect rte 1 & 2 but tv3 & tg4 are extremely poor. I also picked up the signal from sctv and there seems to be no reception for the four english channels (bbc1&2, itv & c4). I also have external ariels. I am in the aghada area.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
