    Hi all,

I was unemployed since leaving college in may 08, but recently got a job in July, and signed off the dole, I was in receipt of JA, I have however been let go from the job on friday.
I went down to the office this morning, and was told that it would simply be a case of reopening my previous application, my question is this:

I have 14 insurance weeks, does that not entitle me to job seekers benefit, seeing as I have been paying PRSI?...is the minimum not 13 weeks?

Its not based on the current year contributions so you probably don't have enough for 2008 to go on your stamps. You get the same money from the dole so it shouldn't make any difference.

ah right, now that might make sense, cheers for the help.

I dont get the same though, I was means tested, and get 50 less, which I can figure out how they came to that decision, cos I do have to be very creative with my money to get by...nothing unusual about that in this place though!
