Importing a 520D from the UK, a few questions

Hoping to pick the collective brains of the motors forum here..I have been looking at a 2008 520DTouring (7K miles) at a BMW main dealer in the UK. The car has leather, auto and bluetooth as well as all the usual bits and pieces and advertised at £24995.

I was wondering what peoples views are on this..I have read loads of reviews but was wondering if anyone here drives one..Is the engine big enough for such a big car etc.

Secondly what should I be looking at offering the dealer for a straight deal considering it will be for export?

Also is there any real need for a RAC/AA check given that is a 1 yr old car with 7K miles from a BMW dealership?

Also does the 3 yr BMW warranty still apply if I import it to Ireland?

    Thanks all

UK dealers unlike dealers over here tend to price their cars close to the price that they actually want for the car. You might get a few hundred pounds off at best and it will make no difference to the dealer whether you are exporting or not.

Afaik the BMW 3 year warranty should be valid here but a quick call to BMW Ireland will verify. Plenty of places to get a full check on the car too, the likes of http://www.hpicheck.com/ for example.

Another thing to remember is that the VRO will charge you VRT on any factory fitted extras. They usually depreciate these extras over 4 years or so and they have a link with a BMW database where they can see what was extra via the car's chassis number.

Thanks bazz, the only really valuable extra seems to be the leather.
