Hi, apologies if this is a stupid question, but my turntable and amp are in separate rooms, I'm currrently running 15m of phono cable to connect them (I imagine audiophiles will be turning away in disgust at this point).
My question is does the turntable earth need to go the amp or will the mains earth do?

Do not ground the turntable to the mains earth under any circumstances.

I blew an amplifier up once doing that. :(

Ground the turntable to the amp only.
