Haunted house!

Okay, I've got a story for ya.
I used to live in a house in Wicklow on my own.
It was actually the house I grew up in.
Every one else had moved out.
I went back to live there for a year and a bit before it was sold.

All sorts of weird stuff started to happen.
It started with knocking, tapping coming from the attic and from around the house.
At first I thought it was just the neighbours but it wasn't like a hammer.

Then as it went on it really seemed weird.
Like you'd arrive home and ten minutes later the knocking would start.
Randomly from light tapping to scraping sounds and then just like someone knocking on a door over and over.

The first really weird thing was we had a dog who died in the house.
One night I was reading in my room.
Couldn't believe it when I heard scraping at the bedroom door.
Like the dog used to do, for to be let in.

I froze, half giddy like wtf?
Then walked over to open the door, when I was just there.
The attic door on the landing, skipped up and made a noise.
I jumped out of my skin and turned on all the lights and watched tv.

Lots of other weird stuff happened like...
I really felt like there was someone standing in the corner of the room once.
So strange I didn't see anything but just had this feeling as soon as I walked in that I was being watched.

Okay so this was going on for a few months and was a talking point amoung the lads.
So one night 3 of us tried a ouja board in the living room.
Not much happened with the board except for alot of messing.

Later that night we were going to sleep while chatting, telling ghost stories.
One of the lads said he thought the curtains where moving.
We started looking at them and sure enough they moved twice and opened half way.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Now I know there's something to ghosts and hauntings.
Not sure what but maybe someday it'll be studied properly and commonly understood.

There was other stuff too, just coming back to me now...
Anyone else got any stories?

Interesting, thanks for sharing your experiences on this forum. We have to aks q's before we can say that you are having paranormal experiences.I'm sure grimes & 6th will reply to you & give their thoughts soon.

I had,

A few years before me and my friends did one a few times.
I did one a few years before that in Carlow which seemed to work well.
Nothing much happened in the house though, mostly just laughing and messing.
Tarot cards, I have was doing them on and off.
Have been using them since though in different place and nothing.

When I was a kid growing up a few strange things happened...
Once when me and my sister were playing in my Mam's room.
The door was closed and the door handle started to move.
Like someone was about to come in.
We just sat there watching it.
My Mam was the only one in the house and she was down in the kitchen the whole time.

I heard someone whispering my name when I was a kid.
I was upstairs in bed and my parents where downstairs watching telly.
Also heard someone run up the stairs once, same thing.
The light in my Mam's room started swaying from side to side one time.
Just me in the room and babysitter downstairs.
I told her but she laughed it off.

A weird one was shortly after my dog died and I was older.
Me and my Mam where watching tv, just us two in the house.
We heard a dog crying, my Mam looked scared and we walked around trying to find where it was coming from.
It sounded like it was all over the house, we looked out the back door and nothing.
Neither of our neighbours had dogs at the time.

Other stuff that happened during the time I was there alone...

1. Heard alarm going off like from my old mobile phone coming from room across the landing, not mine and looked all over house, found nothing.
2. Woke up by unexplained banging in the middle of the night, which then stopped abruptly. (Twice).
3. Heard two people whispering downstairs one time, weird!
4. One night half asleep, kept feeling like my blanket was being moved.
5. Various creaks and feeling like someone in the house.
6. Woke up to noise of kid playing downstairs with someone talking, one time.
8. General feeling built up not like any other place I've lived.

Okay, this one was weird, one night I was alone.
Got tired of knocking and started thinking it must be neighbour taking the piss.
So I stood on the landing before going to bed and jumped up and down banging the floor a few times.
Next morning woke up to four big bangs and what sounded like growling, as I opened my eyes thought I saw blue lines shoot across the air in front of the bedroom door.

I feel that I know the difference between a dream and just plain weirdness.
When I think back to my bedroom in that house, there was definitely a strange athmosphere.
I think I got used to it at the time but looking back it was very different from anywhere else I've lived.
The knocking especialy was constant and I think I just started to accept it.

It's funny at the time I just dismissed or forgot about the individual events.
I always would of said the house was strange.
When I try to remember and write it all down, it really does seem like a big deal.
There's actualy more stuff I can remember now...

I have lived in a few places since then and never anything like it.

Very interesting, maybe some of the Paranormal guys might go down and investigate the house for you. Sounds like theres a good bit going on there. :eek:
