Wiper Motor Punto

The wiper motor is gone on the mother's 98 punto. She's had quotes to have a new one put in but they're too expensive. She'd be better off just getting another car, which she can't afford.

Anyhoo, just wondering how easy it would be to source one and have it installed? I assume this would be too hard to do it yourself?

If you try a breakers yard, or flea-bay you should find one - I don't think they'd be too hard to source. Even try your motor-factors, it mightn't cost that much.

I've never fitted one to that model, but on the next 2 models, it's very easy - 20 minute job tops. The hardest part is threading the nut onto the motor spindle to secure the linkage onto the motor - and it's not that hard. If you don't want to do it yourself, it won't cost a lot in labour.

You must be mad to be considering changing the car for something so simple. Wiper motor went on my gf's 97 Punto last year. Got a secondhand one off Traynor's in the north for £25. You'd get one in a scrapyard down here for not a whole lot more. Handy to change as well, basic DIY stuff.
