How can I unlock my 3 modem for use on my Dovado?

I have an old 33 modem I would like to unlock, 3 gave me an "upgrade".
I basically want to do a speed test using my Dovado Router and a Vodafone SIM to compare it against 3.
3 is find early in the day and very late at night, but as more users join, my connection gets flahed.

So does anyone know how I can unlock my 3 Huawei modem so I can test out Vodafones connection? Thanks in advance!!
    (It's an E169G)

    I have used http://www.dc-unlocker.com/ to unlock a Huawei E169 and a Huawei E180.

    Go to: http://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy

Create a login and password as well as buying credits (all the one process)

    ---

    http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads

    Install the DC Unlocker client

    ---

Click on the magnifying glass icon to detect your card. DC Unlocker cannot detect your card if the Huawei connect software is running.

More or less the following should show up. (I've removed certain details)

    Found modem : E180
    Model : Huawei E180/E180G
    IMEI : (detail removed)
    Firmware : 11.104.16.21.00
    Dashboard version : UTPS11.030.01.13.03_MAC11.202.08.00.03
    Serial NR. : (detail removed)
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

    ---

Login to the DC Unlocker server with your login and password from the credit buying stage.

    ---

Click on the unlocking tab menu and select:

Read Unlock code and auto enter to modem

    Click: 'Do job'

    Your modem should be unlocked.

    ---

You need to be connected online during the process. You can be connected with the dongle you're using and unlocking, at the same time, but the Huawei connection software should not be running, if you want to be able to detect the dongle within DC Unlocker.

Just connect online using the link in your 'Network Connections'.

    ---

The whole process is easier than it seems.

    ---

    Study the unlock costs here:

    http://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy/user_prices

    1 credit = 1 euro

    ---

I was a bit dubious about the site, but I used 3v.ie, through Moneybookers and things went fine. Sites like jkkmobile endorse their use, so, they can't be that bad.

You could ask Three for the unlock code.

That too.. :D They are a frustrating bunch to deal with though, the art of code unlock supply is, seemingly, a mystical one..

    Thanks for the replies guys.
I rang Three just now, their answer was "We don't unlock modems".
Thanks Three, your customer support again exceeds all expectations.

It looks like I'll have to go the DC unlocker route, though I was hoping to do this without a charge.

That's a new one.. Don't they come under the umbrella of 'phones', that there has to be an option to unlock, once a certain amount of credit has been used?

Is it not covered by EU regulations?

The 3 service depends very much on what type of staff member you get at the other end of the phone.. I have had some surreal (but polite..) exchanges\conversations.

I thought they would also come nder the umbrella of phones.
The guy I spoke to said they only unlock phones and not modems, which in my opinion is complete horsesh*t.
