Thanks, I will check these out. (There is another free book at the site, too)

Having followed some of the links on the site, I would have to say that this group sounds pretty cult-like. It is an off-shoot of Armstrongism and makes some grandoise claims for its leader:
Ronald Weinland, who is the pastor of God's Church on earth, has also been appointed by the God of Abraham to be His end-time prophet and one of the two end-time witnesses (and spokesman of both), preceding the return of Jesus Christ.

Yeah, it's a bit much to claim he is actually one of the two witnesses mentioned in the book of Revelation.
The prophecy books are interesting, nevertheless.

Very interesting in that he prophesies that the Great Tribulation will start on April 17 2008. That was to be followed, in the same year, by nucleur attacks on port cities in the US. Oops!

Not only does he claim to be one of the two witnesses in the Book of Revelation - but apparently his wife, Laura, is the other one!

This is a departure from the usual practice in cults where their leaders claim to be Elijah returned - but in this case he's already identified Herbert W Armstrong (another cult leader) as being Elijah - so I guess the two witnesses were the next best thing going.

I don't get it because these bold claims really don't do much for their cause. I can appreciate the teachings of a fellow Christian, and I can even give the benefit of the doubt when someone claims to have received a message from God, but this is without them being some type of Elijah or a key figure in Revelation. Being a prophet is one thing, but claiming ownership of a very specific Bible-given title is another and requires a bit more than book authorship.
How does one know if they as an individual are fulfilling Biblical prophecy anyways?
Aren't the two witnesses supposed to be miracle workers on the same scale as Moses/Enoch/Elijah? I haven't seen anything like this yet, although it would be nice to see.

But isn't it great for revealing these false teachers. It really is all you need to show up a charlatan. So many people/groups who make claims of prophetship etc usually show themselves up sooner or later. Jehovahs Witnesses did it too, yet look at the huge following they still have. Worrying.

This is something I argue frequently, and it is this. God is not ambiguous. If you are an apostle, prophet etc, you will be very directly communicated with by God. His Holy Spirit will act in you, and not in any vague way. You need just open your bible to see the power, or indeed the communication that God gives to his called ones. We as followers of Christ have a few things we can do to examine the authenticity of such folk. 1) Do they speak the Gospel of Christ as per the NT? 2) Do they display gifts of Spirit? 3) If they claim they do, do they limit it to 'Teaching' or 'Wisdom'. If so, one must truly examine it to see if it is Christ like wisdom etc. I suspect that this is the easiest one to fake though. 4) To they show the fruits of the spirit? 5) Is it a money making operation, or is it apostolic?

    Indeed.

Yeah, and they are to be martyred and left rotting in the streets of Jerusalem for three days. I wonder how much Ronald Weinland is looking forward to that part.
