recording for transcript purpose

    Hi there,

    My manager wrote a grievance against me and I also have a grievance against him for bullying. I was then called to an informal discussion with his manager without being allowed copy of the grievance before hand and without being allowed a witness.
    At this meeting were a member of HR, supposedly there to take notes. My phone got a recording feature so i recorded the conversation without telling them.
    I got then the meeting minutes taken by HR. A lot of what i said is not there and the meeting minutes do make me look like guilty. Is it legal
    to use my recording to prove that important things i said were not taken into account?
    Or is it better to keep it quiet and see how things go?

    I suspect this would be better off in Work and Jobs. My non-legal advice would be to reply to their minutes with an amended copy including your notes "for the record". Don't transcribe the recording, just use it as an aide-memoire to ensure the salient facts are presented accurately.

    Thanks for this advice that makes sense. Better keep them unaware of the recording of the meeting. Will definitely send an amended letter.
