Just like buses, you wait for one then 2 come along at once.

    Link of the non-Zelda variety

Picture of the beast scaled against DSi

Isn't this going to kill the sales of the DSi? Surely they could have waited another year to release the XL or just gone straight to it, forgetting about the DSi altogether.

Big problem I can see is while the graphics on the original screen size were tolerable for most games, if the new larger screen is still operating with the original amount of pixels, isn't it going to look a bit, well, crap.

    The size of it

I think the DSiXL will be targetted towards the older market. I don't have the best of eyesight, and have to hold the DS close enough to my eyes or wear my glasses. I can only imagine what its like for someone who is 30-40 years older than me (like Patrick Stewart or Julie Walters!). The full size stylus also suits older hands.

A downside of the new DSiXL for me is the fact that DSiWare cannot be transferred between consoles, so you'd have to buy them all again. I've bought about 8 games (love the Art Style games) and I won't buy them again.

Like Mr E said, it looks like it's aimed at an older market so it won't really be in the same boat as the lite and dsi. I'd love to see the actual size of it

I held off on the DSi but this would probably be something I would be interested in picking up.

Same. Mainly because I mostly use my ds around the home rather then traveling.

Wow it's large. It's un-neccessary but I feel like I need one. And a steal at 20,000 yen!

    Wow!

My DS has a broken hinge. Was going to replace the case.

    ...

Is that a valid enough excuse to get one of these? :pac:

i guess so, quite sure that Nintendo slipped out of the number one spot for console market share for good

Nintendo are still no1 with DS and Wii. The Wii has the highest selling software on it.

Ooops! the battery on mine has gone flat and can't be bothered to find the charger.

    Does that count too?

    Q1 2010 i believe.

Also Japanese people seem to love their DS models so much that they'll queue outside stores, even though they've been through 3 models so far.

According to Famitsu, the DSi LL has sold 104k units in 2 days.

Guess Nintendo are saying on top with the DS series.
