    hi people,

i have a question regarding rent allowance, i applied for rent allowance in the 1st week of june, and last week i got letter from the council stating that i got the rent allowance, but i could not get on the housing list, that's ok with me....

so this week i got a cheque for 2881, which was dated from the date i moved into my current house, the 17th of april, to the 23rd of october,,,, what i want to know is who pays my landlord, and how is she paid, my cwo was on holidays this week, and nobody was filling in for her, really annoying, i hope someone can explain this for me, thanks....

I'd say if you filled out a form giving you landlords name and address and bank details then the Health Board, who deal with rent allowances, will be in contact with the landlord to make payments directly into their account for rents due.
The 2881 has covered 6 months rent by the sound of it which works out at about 490 a month which would rent half a house at todays rates.

The landlord will probably be getting a direct payment from now on but it always is best to ask and be sure about this.
Best person to ask is the CWO

You receive the cheque each month unless arranged otherwise with the CWO. You can change it to a bank transfer directly into your landlords bank account if you wish.

i think it was a yelllow form, that my landlord filled out, i dont think she had to fill out her bank details,, you see my rent was due on the 17th of october, and i havent paid it yet, because i thought that the social were going to pay it, but i dont even know how she is being paid yet, the rent is 550 a month, it is just all very confusing, thanks for your help so far
