GHD sizes are for the length and thickness of your hair - really long & thick hair - bigger one and smallest one for short hair.

I have really short hair but use the medium one!

There are other good hair straighteners, Terri Sales on Abbey St should do a Kodo or Paralux one, they are a fraction of the price, hope this helps :)

Id recommend the Remington one you can buy in Boots for like 30quid or so, its brilliant.
Was my first ever straghtener and used it for years until my bf stood on it and broke it!
So then I got a ghd... and I still miss my Remington!
From experience, despite what everyone says about ghds, there are just as good straighteners on the market for a lot less money, especially if its only for a lil kink/cows lick.

    :)

OP - you don't "need" to buy a GHD. I would recommend looking at the straighteners on Boots' website (www.boots.com) because they'll all have customer reviews and that way you can see which ones are the best.

I have a GHD and I have to say I love it, can't fault it at all and I've had it for ages now so I do think they are worth the money.

I agree they are great, however, they're very over-priced and there are a lot of cheaper straightening irons out there that do almost as good a job as the GHD.

Yes, almost. I don't think they are over-priced. I believe in quality and I'd rather spend some extra money, especially on something which I use every day. I have nothing against cheaper hair straighteners, I just prefer my GHD!

I had a GHD that lasted for 6 years. Loved it, worked perfectly. I would really recommend them.
When it broke, I just bought a Babyliss one in Argos. My hair won't stay straight when I use it though.
Saving up for a new GHD so!

Don't forget hqhair.com is so much cheaper than buying them from Peter Marks! You can often find discount vouchers for that store on retailmenot.com

I have used my friends GHD and found it to be big, bulky and awkward to use and could NOT get to my roots to straighten.
Also found it 'pulled' my hair - little bunches came out attached to plates.
Friend MADE me try it as she was not happy with it herself and lent it to put me off. Rightly so.

I was in The UK and came across a demonstration in a dept store of Corioliss C2 straightners.
The girl curled my hair and it was still curly on the flight home two days later. Bear in mind I once had a PERM THAT FELL OUT OVERNIGHT...
I didnt buy them that day, I tried around to see if I could get a better price at home, which I did, at Sallys.

These straightners are SUPER slim, light as a feather and have an extra long plate for straightening/curling, making it a doddle to get to roots/curl long hair.
There is a 'silver' technology within the plate which emits ions or something that 'clean' your hair as you use it.
Plus the plates 'expand' to allign perfectly together when heated so you wont have to 'squeeze' them together to meet.
The temp is digitally controlled and gets up to 220 degrees but is automatically set at 180 and I doubt you'd ever need to go above. Cost me €178 about a year ago and has already paid for itself a few times over.

Dont bother with any of the cheap brands - you'll find yourself replacing them every few months or so and that soon adds up to the cost of a great one that'll last you years.

    :)
