Got a nokia 5300 unlocked can i now update firmware?

hiya, got my 5300 unlocked in a shop, i couldn't do it with just a number off the net. your man in the shop said he had to install old firmware to unlock it but was wondering if i can now update the firmware or will it go back to being locked? i'm hoping by updating the firmware it will recognise my microsd card:)

Yes you can upgrade the firmware, it shouldn't reactivate the network lock.

Got it updated thanks, unfortunately still doesnt see the 4gb card though:(
