    I bought this from Amazon

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-MT-096-Transmitter-iPhone-Player/dp/B001F32OKK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1256941407&sr=8-1

It comes with a charger but it can use the iPhones own battery power. I've had it a few weeks and no complaints.

Use this myself, got it in a Currys in NI.

The cigarette lighter adapter alows you to play, pause and skip back and forward.

The radio displays the track and artist if you have an RDS radio.

I think it was about 60 Sterling.

    Another link here.

What car is this for? We'll be able to help you more specifically if we know the car type. try and avoid the FM transmitters if you can, they are only slightly better than nothing, there are many fairly reasonably priced options out there at the moment.

Its for a volvo XC90, i dont want to go trying to modify the radio in the thing as it'll cost serious cash.. I cant see how it ca be done without the aid of transmitters to be honest

Something like this might do the trick, check your radio compatability first though.

    I use this
Its a transmitter and it charges the iphone 3G at the same time. Reception is good, though it depends where you are travelling (cities can be a problem). It has an option for handsfree calling also, but I didn't really find it very good, so I bought one of these which is very good.

If you go for this solution, just make sure to connect your bluetooth first and then the wireless transmitter - otherwise you will get your music coming over your jabra headset!

This is exactly what I'd like, I was thinking there had to be a way to hardwire the connection, I could buy it and try it but as I spent a bloody fortune on the car I dont want to tamper with it. Is there a custom kit available thats fitted by someone who knows what they're doing?

Actually is there an apple iphone car kit availabe from O2 or the likes?

Nice idea though and if nothing else its what I'd want.. the transmitter idea is last ditch as, to be honest i dont think they're robust..

You could give cartronics in santry a call and ask if they have any kit for your XC90, if not, ask them if they will fit it for you, once you know how to reomve the radio these kits are simple to fit.

Thanks for the Advice, Santry's a bit from me but I'll call around. I may buy the kit alright and your right once you know how to remove the radio, I could do it but I'd prefer to leave it to someone who does this kinda thing every day.
I usually have one or two pieces in my hand when I put things back together!

Keep an eye in Aldi or Lidl for bluetooth car radio (comes up every few months). I can play my music, listen to internet radio all wirelessly via A2DP. Totally bizarre listening to New York radio while stuck on the M50!
    Cost me €65.

Only saw that you are from Mayo now, I'm sure there are In car specialists near you, call them and ask if they can fit it, I thought you were in Dublin when I made that suggestion. A browse around the interweb would provide a walk through for you to remove it yourself, they are really easy to take out.
