Not sure if this will interest anyone, but thought I'd share anyway.

I read that FFWD wheels are built by some guy called Zoran. He's actually listed on their About Us page:

Naturally, he joined a cycling club and by the time he was thirteen, he spent most of his free time in the workshop of his club, where the highly skilled mechanic took Zoran under his wings.

Over time Zoran develops a few special wheel building techniques and specifically elaborates on the design and perfection of single and multi butted spokes, to improve on durability and reliability of bicycle’s most important components: the wheels!

Currently, Zoran owns “BikeXPerto”, a small workshop specializing in building high end wheels. He builds all FFWD wheels with a great sense for perfection.

BikeXPerto have a website, mostly in Dutch, but Google translate gives the history, including his work for Skil-Moser and Moser-AH teams.

There are some interesting wheels on the site, particularly the Edge 45 carbon clinchers for €1790.00, which is about the same as the equivalent $ price direct from Edge, but crucially with no extra import duty or VAT since he's based in the EU (the price includes 19% tax; shipping looks to be €25,00 within the EU).

Presumably he builds these himself, since the hubs appear to be "M5 ceramische naven" whatever that means; factory Edge wheels come with DT Swiss hubs.

Anyway, this looks like it might be a good source of interesting handbuilt wheels that I haven't seen mentioned before so I thought I'd share.

If anyone knows any more about this guy I'd like to hear it.
