sound but no picture

    Just bought a HDMI cable for my sons ps3 and have sound but no picture,am i doing something wrong or is the cable faulty.Everything works fine with the scart lead but when i select HDMI input on the tv i get a black screen with 576p in top corner,do i have to change any setting on the ps3?

    It should automatically detect the hdmi device,hold down the power button until it beeps and it should detect it

    Did you try selecting the channel the PS3 normally goes through?

    The message to tell you it's detected the HDMI may be there.

    try going to the HDMI channel.

    What I do when I'm switching between Scart and HDMI is first connect both cables to the ps3 and tv, use the Scart connection to change the ps3 over to HDMI. The scart screen then goes black, then change the source ont he tv to HDMI, make sure the ps3 showing up, then complete the process on the HDMI setting.

    Saying that, it should just default to whichever cable is in the back, aslong as there is only one.
