Mostly pros I presume... do Cervelo sponsor many pros?

If Cervelos make you win races, I'd say everyone would be on them.

Can't remember where I heard this, but was the "integrated bottle" of the latest Cervelo P4 bikes deemed illegal? Constituted a fairing or something.

Very true, although the statement could be rephrased as:

"If _______ make you win races, I'd say everyone would be on them."

Fill in _______ with just about any bike out there.

Right, but since Zipps are ubiquitous we can safely assume that they make you win races.

Think its because Gerard Vroom double posted on slowtwitch.

Cause Cervelo don't sponsor any pro triathletes. They don't need to.

I can confirm as a multiple Cervelo owner that Cervelo's do not help you win races (although I did win the first race I entered on one, that turned out to be a one off fluke). Apparently when used in conjunction with something called training they can be quite effective however. I must give that a try.

That being said the OP has a point, Cervelo riders usually feature prominently at the business end of things in such events, most likely due to weight of numbers because of the seemingly widespread belief in the tri community that the P2C, P3C and P4C are the finest TT bikes out there. P2C for £999 on Slane cycles at the moment, if I didn't have the PlanetX Stealth I'd be tempted.

By the way Spins I saw you were looking for the Canyon TT, if you are looking for something cheaper, for the money I do rate the Planet X that I and a couple of clubmates have (certainly your compadres in the local Tri clubs couldn't get within an asses roar of them in the summer TT league this year). I am around Waterford if you ever want to see one in the flesh. You probably know me already anyway.

Just looking there, Chris Lieto's bike spit averaged over 40kmh (25mph) for four and a half bloody hours, not to mention the 2.4mile swim he had just done and the 26.2mile run he had to do just after it! Really, I just think that it absolutely amazing stuff. Fair play to all of them, much respect. ;)

Quigs vs Tunney, there is a face off I would like to see.

We could divide it into rounds of tri, TT, a mass start race and a final deciding round of arguing on the internet.

Yes, I have one too and it's actually getting the final bits put on it in the lbs as we speak! Just looking at the frame alone I would highly recommend it for the price aswell.

That price for the P2C on Slane does look pretty good alright, I did happen to see one of those hanging up in Siopa Rothar in Limerick presumably second hand, although could be new judging by it's mint condition. I'm not sure if it's still there, but I can check it out further (price, sieze etc.) if either of ye want me to when I'm picking up my Stealth. Or else ye can just give them a ring yourselves on (061)419695 if ye are really interested. However saying that, you would lucky to get through to them on the phone as a have recently found out myself! Haha :D

They did last year - Chrissy Wellington won on one and still do.... Team Tbb are still sponsored by them. (http://www.teamtbb.com/?option=com_content&task=view&id=91). I guess they out there money into the new team. They were still the most popular bike at Kona though, http://ironman.com/events/ironman/worldchampionship/kona2009/organized-by-triathlete-magazine-the-official-bike-count-from-kailua-kona.

They don't make you win, but in terms of bang for buck they deliver in terms of aero tubing and most importantly - good geometry.

That being said if i had the cash I'd go for a trek speed concept, UCI legal 8:1 aerofoils behaviour from 3:1 tubes. (Kamm tail 'virtual airfoil')

I can categorically state that Tunney would obliterate me in a TT ! I have discovered that owning a TT bike does not automatically confer Time Trialling ability no more than a Liverpool jersey confers soccer ability.

Team not an athlete, and the level of sponsorship is questionable. BS is very much of the attitude use what works regardless (chrissie was on a road bike for *how* many years cause BS said she couldn't handle a bike well enough to ride a TT?)

I wish. I'm crap on the bike, and Cervelos don't make you win races, that I do know. They do have an attraction to Dublin buses though.

well judging by liverpool's recent form you could argue differently (and i'm a liverpool fan :))

i love my p2c. i can't fault it at all.

why did i get one? - proven quality - it holds it's value - good geometry (as mentioned) - not many bad reviews - and of course it looks awesome.

i only hope my performances can someday show what the bike is capable of (hopefully someday not toooo far away)

Stevie I have the same problem, I just cannot do a bike like a Cervelo justice. Last year when I first got the R3 SL I continued turning up on a battered old trek for races because I felt embarassed to be on the Cervelo. Like the guy who cannot kick a ball but turns up with full real madrid kit and golden boots complete with his name on his back for a five a side.
