Amplifier Quality

I am looking at buying a new power amp. I have behringer ep2500 at the moment, but I am ready to spend a little more and want to upgrade in quality. The amps in the frame at the moment are:

    Dynacord SL
    EV Q66
    Crown XLS
    Art SLA
    DB tech HPA

From what I can gather DB tech would be a side ways move, but EV,Crown and Dynacord would be an upgrade. The Art has the big plus that it is only 1 unit of rack space - but I don't know about the quality.

    Any views ?
    Kev

Is this for a PA or a studio? Coz all of those have fans in them I think. Not good for a studio. The Crown is a good box. The EV too. I haven't heard the others. What speakers? Have you tried putting heavier cable in? Have you done any acoustic treatment?

More background: It is for live PA so fans aren't really problem and its to expand my set up and enable me to use passive monitors when I upgrade my mixer. So I will still be using both amps. Speakers are behringer B1520 Pro and will be upgraded when they die - or I win lotto.

Having said that the amp is not a problem I've noticed the behringer amp causes a decent amount of hum if its mounted directly below a processing unit like a compressor. Leaving space between sorts this out. Is this normal ? Some setups seem to have an amp rack and a processor rack.

We've had nothing but trouble with Crown. QSC or Lab Gruppen are pick of the bunch IMHO, but you can't really go wrong with EV or Dynacord, lots of tech support in Ireland if something goes wrong.
