Does anyone know whether Tktmaster still charge you the booking/handling fee when you book in person as opposed to online? If so I'll take the lazy option!

Yep they sure do! I think it's €2.25 per ticket. Keep an eye on www.ticketgroup.ie who are new to the scene and are cheaper, however as they are new they are only building up their list of gigs but worth a look none the less

If you're buying from stephens green shopping centre outlet there is no additional service charge (unless you're buying with a credit card). Not sure if any other outlets drop the service charge (possibly jervis shopping centre but not sure)
