    let me start this off by saying i know we here at the noc don't often have very serious threads here, but i think this is justified. As some of ye may already know from viewing AH or Soccer, Gearoid Walsh, the popular poster known as eirebhoy,has passed away. The other forums have details and links to news articles, but i just wanted to express sadness over the whole thing. Condolences to his family and friends. Rip.

    Was following some of the threads about eirebhoy yesterday and was shocked to see a condolences thread for him this morning.

    my sympathies go out to his family.

    I didn't know the dude at all but I must admit this whole thing makes me feel both incredibly uncomfortable with mans occasional inhumanity and extremely saddened for the family. I hope they find peace.

    I'd never come across him either, but the whole thing makes me really sad. So touching to see everyone show their sympathy all over boards.

    I can't say that I can recall having a discussion with eirebhoy in Soccer, but it's plain to see how highly he was thought of. RIP Gearoid, my thoughts are with your family.

    He was a pretty frequent poster in the Dublin city forum and I remember reading his posts.

    Indeed, I saw this last night. I only have a very vague memory of the guy as poster, noticed a couple of his posts in AH and that was about it, but he always seemed to have his head on straight.

    Whether or no, in any case, it's a horrible way to go, and way way too young ... if there's any such thing as "old enough"!

    My sympathies to his family.

    eirebhoy was a great guy, had a fe discussions with him over on the soccer forum, really passionate about everything soccer and all round nice guy!

    RIP!

    my thaughts and condolences are with his family!
