Firewire card with Texas Instruments chipset needed in Dublin area. MODS, NOT AN AD!

First off, technically this isn't an advert so I thought I might have better luck putting this post here instead of adverts.ie. However, if the mods want to put it there, no problem.

Anyway, I'm deffo pushing my luck here but is there ANYONE that would have a firewire card with a texas instruments chipset? And more importantly, would they be willing to allow me to borrow it for about an hour to test my tascam soundcard?

Basically, I've had nothing but trouble for the last year with this thing. I've exhausted every avenue I can think of with trying to get it to function correctly with my PC (and two other PCs for that matter).

Tascam have suggested that I try a firewire card with a texas instruments chipset. The problem is, I'm broke and really can't afford to be buying anything else in an effort to fix this problem unless I am certain that it will fix it.

Anyway, as I said, I know I'm pushing my luck here but if anyone can help I'd be eternally greatful!

What about if you find someone who has a TI chipset in their computer and ask them to put your card in and test it? Maybe one of the lads here will have one.

I made a point to get a laptop with firewire and then discovered when I got it that I should have gotten one with a TI chipset, mine has a Ricoh one. I use a PCMCIA card now so there's no issues with that. :)

I suppose that could be an option (possibly the best one I might be able to get), it's just that I've tried so many other things, two other computers, bought new mains boards, etc.

I just have this horrible feeling that if I tried someone elses computer with a TI firewire and it worked, I'd end up buying one and I'd still have a problem.
Dropping another €30 on something that mightn't work for my computer would tip me over the edge I think!

    Where abouts in Dublin?

I have a TI firewire card in my system, but am based out in Kildare (Carbury) which is probably a bit far out for you..

I have a TI based 3 port PCI Belkin firewire card sitting on my desk in front of me. Depending where abouts you are we might be able to sort something out.

Cheers for the replies guys. Nice to know there's still some good people out there!

I'm based in Santry, Mataguri. Right beside the crown plaza hotel if you know it.
