I think it was posted in the Seasons Beatings thread.

    Chris Hu is a legend.

Not sure if Daigo is the worlds best Ryu. He's always going to be very good but I'm not sure if he is the top Ryu.

Reading Andres comments on shoryuken.com he said nerves got to him towards the end. Missing lots of the short shots.

Really good game and funny commentary from Chris Hu.

Which Ryus would you consider better than Daigo?

I don't know, but I'm just saying don't assume he is the best just because he is Daigo. He maybe the best Ryu at SF IV but I don't know what the general consensus is in Japan about who is the best. He is certainly one of the best though.

I'm pretty sure he's the highest BP Ryu in Japan and consistently places in their big tournaments - I've never seen any Japanese players better than him anyway. Not just saying "cause he's Daigo" or anything!

That commentator is hilarious. It's like he's reading a script or something.

    Reminds me of this guy:

Daigo wasnt the 'best' in SF3 either, he's a top ranked player but there are better players [more ranking/wins/that beat him] than him, think that evo parry movie got him HYPE

Alex Valle's Ryu was amazing at the WestCoast Warzone finals but I think I would consider Daigo's Ryu to be the best. That said, we never really get to see that many japanese players very often

Who else is in the running? I dont know any other ryus near as good as him. None of the Americans come close for sure.

I think Daigo is a fairly boring Ryu player to watch. He's like the Schumacher of Street Fighter. There's no real flare to his play style, but he's consistent.

He also has a ridiculous ability to adapt and change his play style on the fly depending on his opponent, although when he finds a tactic that works he tends to just stick with it. His main skill seems to come from being able to quickly find weaknesses in his opponents play style and then exploiting them. He seems to care more about safe wins and exploiting weaknesses rather than showcasing in public matches his ability to execute difficult links and combos.

He's bankable but he's no showman.

Are you serious? He always varies his combos when he has no reason to. He always does a different combo off that forward punch, combos that are stupid hard.

That perfect evo parry that got him the hype as placebo puts it, is probably more impressive than showcasing difficult links and combos in public matches. I find his foot work and play style in sf4 quite entertaining to watch. He's shows a lot of skills in subtle ways.

I'm not saying he isn't skilled. Rather he's not a risk taker and showman. His ability to read his opponent and completely shut down their play style in a few minutes is very impressive.

Fuudo's Ryu is pretty awesome, but I can't think of any Ryu better than Daigo. He just knows Street Fighter.

My favorite Ryu is Poongko if you're into rushdown this is your man.

There is no doubting Daigo's ability to adapt to any player though, I think his consistency stems from practically flawless execution. Of all his vids I have watched the only time I can remember him whiffing under pressure is in money matches, in tourney matches his composure is robotic, the guy is serious!

Watching Daigo adapt to Jwong's Fei Long at Season's Beatings was THE BEST THING I ever saw.
Better than the Evo 2009 Grand Final.

But for 3rd Strike players, it's just gotta be Kuroda. Guy is the MAN.
Here's Kuroda, not using his main, not in ideal environment (GGPO.net)

Or here's Kuroda DOMINATING Justin Wong at SBO
