Does anyone know what might be causing my laptop running vista ultimate to fail the service pack 2 update every time I try it. Once it gets to step 3 of 3 it says something like reverting changes made and fails to install the update. This has happened 5 or 6 times at this point.

Try updating your drivers, running a disk cleanup, defrag, kill processes/run the update in Safe Mode.

outside of that my all time favorite: Reformat and update from scratch :pac:

Had exactly the same problem on one of my systems too - and all my drivers, etc are up-to-date.
Its weird. There has been a good lot of reported cases of this!

Apparently it looks like there is a bug or two in the latest update pack!
Microsoft at their best again with bloody Vista!

I've been having the same problem. I read that it might be related to your AV software? I've tried to disable AVG to run the update, but can't figure out how to turn it off-is the only solution to unintsall it?
