Marriage certificate

    Hi,

    Does anyone know how long it takes to get a marriage certificate after the wedding? What is the earliest I can apply for one?

    I presume that's the marriage registration form you're on about?
    I'm looking to get the certificate that you get after you're married to prove you legally are.
    Can I file for it on the same day?

    You can get your marrige cert the day after your wedding if you want. We got married on a friday and got our cert on the monday, I think it cost €8. There is a time limit on bringing your MRF back to the registration office (lombard street in Dublin) so just ask for a cert when you are bringing that back

    I was speaking to someone in the office today and they confirmed I could get it the next day. Phew!

    yeah you can get it the next day (although you might have a little wait if you get married late the day before and the registrar hasn't had a chance to file it yet!).
    we were married on Thursday and went in to collect the cert on Monday and it was there ready and waiting!

    They don't automatically send it out when you send the marriage registration in. You have to send in an application to get your cert (or ring them and call in I think) and also pay over some cash.

    Got it one minute after the ceremony as we were already in the registry office! :D
    Had to scrounge 8 quid off a guest though... :o
