    in fairness the guys girlfriend didnt even come to court with him - he was on his own in court (not even sure if they are still together)..... I work in the courts :P and was in the court for the hearing.

    everything was paid back....which is more than I can say for 99%* of the other criminals before the courts.

    *not a statement of fact rather a wild guess at a number for emphasis to indicate a large majority.

    he found a loophole in the Bank of Ireland system and used it till he was caught - I'm sure there are a lot more people within Bank of Ireland who have broken the law and have not and probably wont ever be before the courts.

    I heard of this way back. Bit of a fool if you ask me to think he would have got away with it as absolutely everything is logged.

    The scary thing is this is VERY easy to do......

    A lot of Banks backend system are still running on >15 Year old systems.....

    kinda makes you wonder ---- what is happening to the bank charges they take from my account ? and the massive profits they were posting before everything went pete tong.

    Bank charges equate to a very small % of income for a bank and the massive profits were either re-invested or given to the shareholders as dividends.

    Not really worth wondering about at all.
