Hi, a friend is looking for a laptop something like my sony SZ 71 but doesn't want to pay the high price of the sony. Does anyone have any suggestions? She would also consider a good second hand laptop. Thanks.

Have a look at the acer timeline series, good quality, excellent value and ridiculously long battery life. They don't have a dvd/cd drive though which is must for a good few people.

I own the 1810TZ which is the 11.6" model with windows 7. Its very nippy and has no problem playing any sort of media I throw at it. The 3810 series have similar specs but with a larger 13.3" screen.
