I want a laptop with specs something like the ones on the pdf attached below. I'm just wondering if there would be a better make which would be similar to the DELL Studio XPS 13 but cheaper (if possible)? Or is this a good deal?

    Would like:

at least 2.53GHz dual core processor
4GB RAM or be able to upgrade
    Win 7 b4bit
    good graphics card maybe 512mb
    backlit keyboard

Any recommendations or advice would be great cheers.

Dell Vostro 1320 (Small business section of the site).

Prices have gone up by about €100 recently but €880 will get you:

    2.53Ghz P8700
    4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
    320 GB 7200 RPM HDD
    256MB Nvidia Geforce 9300M.

the GFX is a bit weak, but other than that it's still a very good performer for a 13''.

Edit: Btw, the Studio XPS 13'' seem to be heavily discounted on the business section. Support is weaker, but you're specs come in at: €920. as opposed to €1k on the home section

Is the small business prices not cheaper because VAT isn't added till you add the computer to your basket? Or am I missing something and there is some way to avoid paying the VAT?

Cheers man. don't think i want a mac. But the Sony looks interesting. It seemed with DELL that if i just got 1GB of RAM and then used crucial.com to upgrade the laptop's RAM it would work out cheaper would this be the case with other laptops too?

I added the VAT to what I posted. On the site the prices are:

    Vostro €630 (+ VAT = €764.24)
    Studio XPS 13 €760 (+ VAT = €924.58)

btw turns out I was wrong about the Vostro price (accidentally clicked the 1 year PRO package when i was pricing it instead of the basic). Bit more attractive now. It's about 0.5KG lighter than the Studio XPS too for what it's worth.

OK cool I'll take a look. Still think I'd lean towards the XPS - better gfx n backlit keyboard.

Has anyone had any experience with the studio xps 13?
