Trying to install AVG Free on a friends computer and it won't install unless ScriptInocUI Class is first uninstalled. Anyone know is this malware or which program uses it so I can uninstall it?

Have searched the web for a solution but have had no luck.

I had the same problem with installing AVG 9.0.. And I did the following and it cured it.

Now if you’re not comfortable enough to edit your registry then DO NOT TRY THIS!
ALSO DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING! As it will have negative results on your system.
You should make a backup copy of your Registry 1st to be safe.

    OK

Click START then RUN and type in REGEDIT and click OK

Now browse to this key - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

In the right view pane DO NOT DELETE it.

Double click on the default reg_sz key and in the edit string box

Clear out the ScriptInocUI Class in the value data field and click ok

Exit out of the Registry and reinstall AVG 9.0

    It should install just fine.

    Remember be careful

    UPDATE-

I had another instance of this and needed to repeat the above action here:

    location "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID"

(remove "ScriptIncoUI Class" - the default key should be empty).
