Sorry for a repeat thread (also in postgrad but no reply), and I have read through the sticky, but my qs was about teaching in a VEC

What about lecturing in VEC's??? I know there are no jobs out there but hypothetically speaking. I have a 1:1 BA in Journalism and industry experience and have been thinking about lecturing. Am I way off qualification wise?

    Cheers

I presume you are referring to lecturing in a PLC college as that would be the only option for lecturing in the VEC system.

In my experience, many PLC tutors are secondary school teachers and are paid as such. Many PLC colleges are located in secondary schools with others operating as stand-alone colleges.

It sounds like you would be qualified to teach on a Journalism course. You'd need to check out if there is such a course operating in your area.

Hi I teach in a PLC college and many of our staff don't have a H Dip but have industry experience drop your CV into the local VEC office. Also have a look at the FETAC web site that lists all the modules offered and you can see the ones you would be qulaified to teach - it wouln't hurt to maybe list them on your cover letter or CV

    Agree with the other posts

Look up the Fetac website, in particular Communications Module, this is often delivered by english teachers, and it is a module that is included in most PLC colleges, schools

Do remember that you need to be registered with the Teaching Council in order to be short listed for interview should any position arise in a PLC college in your subject area. Contact your local college and offer to go in and give a guest lecture free or charge.
