Those little A4 signs on the telephone poles. You see them on every pole around a roundabout. They advertise companies and websites.

Can anyone place a sign on the poles? Do you need a permit?

I used to do a nixer when i had a van, every friday night id put the posters up on lamposts & signposts, they were direction signs to showhouses of a new housing development. Then on the sunday night id have to take them down again. The reason for this i was told was that its perfectly legal to have them up over the weekend but then the litter warden goes around on monday mornings and its a 200 euro fine for each poster thats still up.

I think this is called flag posting. I always remember seeing a warning on a pole saying that flag posting was prohibited and you'll be fined if caught. I always see signs posted around that little area though.

Darky Finn, do you know if it's actually ok in the eyes of the law to have them up over the weekend? Or is it just less likely you would have been caught?

As far as I know it is still against the law but the chances of you being caught are less on the weekends are there are no wardens.

I have heard that unless you go completely overboard they mostly just take the signs and you never see them again, although dont hold me to this.
