Bricked iPod Touch

    After trying to update the firmware on my 2G touch from 3.0.1 it's now stuck in a recovery loop, stupid thing wasn't even jailbreaked. It's still under warranty I think but I have a couple of questions hopefully someone can answer.

    1:An ex GF gave it to me, she bought it in the U.S. so who in Ireland can I bring it/send it to and would the warranty still count?

    2:After trying but failing to restore it, is all my data on it truly gone? I'm not particularly bothered about it, just that it has my email login details so if it's possible to recover it with my data still intact I'll need to change my passwords before I send it off.

    I have a few times, even dfu mode. It's still stuck in a recovery loop.

    Hmm. That seems bad. However, with iPhone, there's *always* a way around it :)
