does this sound expensive to fix? like i imagine its just a small part to replace..also where to fix it please? any help appreciated

Wouldn''t say its a difficult job, you just buy a pin and desolder the old pin off and solder the new one on.

If you know how to do it its not a problem, if not then your gonna have to find someone to fix it and they will charge you atleast €100 usually

You are going to get absolutely ripped off by PC World, If the rest of the country charge €120 they will charge €150.

That is a massive rip off for such a relatively easy job.

    Fair play to you!

    Buy that and get going.

Your going to need a soldering iron and some solder too and a desoldering wick (All of this can be gotten pretty cheaply off ebay)

I would imagine this is your first time soldering anything by the sounds of it so what you need to do is.

    1. Open up your laptop making sure to keep all the screws, panel covers etc in a safe place, you should not need to remove the screen.
    2. Your going to have to completely remove the motherboard from the computer which is pretty annoyingly time consuming but it must be done, make sure to disconnect all the internal cabling.
    3. Once the motherboard is outside of the laptop case, place it on a WOODEN table, not metal or carpet etc. Find the power pin and flip it over.
    4. Using your soldering iron which obviously must be hot, heat up the pins under the power socket and use the desolder pump in that kit to suck up all the melted solder, you don't need to apply any pressure with the soldering iron, just a light touch. When you've removed the solder off all the pins the power jack will come out of the board.
    5. Place the new power jack into the board in the same way the old was in the board and flip the board over again.
    6. Now here is the difficult part if you have never soldered before but nonetheless its not too difficult. Taking your soldering iron in your dominant hand and some solder in your other hand, heat up the pins on the bottom of the power jack which should be in place on the motherboard and after about 5 seconds of heating a pin bring the solder onto the pin and it should melt onto the pin making a joint. Repeat this for each pin and your done.
    7. Partially reassemble the laptop and test the port to make sure its working.

I know in writing this sounds like heart surgery or something but in reality besides disassembling the computer, replacing the pin would take at most 10 minutes.

If you need any more help, just post, I've done this a million times.
