is it just me or has anyone noticed the distinct lack of bangers going off this year in the run up to halloween? with a few days to go its usually a regular thing to hear bangers going off outside but ive only heard one or two in the past week or so? have the gardai been cracking down or is there another explanation?

    I've noticed less as well.

But, one day in Dublin, there were a group of boys that looked about 8, who came up to me and said, "I know where you live [even though I don't live in Dublin ] and we're going to put a firework through your door", then they all started laughing. I looked at the one that was laughing the hardest and said, "And what the hell are you laughing at, tubs" and he started crying :o

More or less the same where I live. Started last week but only have a few days of it left thank god. Don't know which is worse - the bangers when they go off or the dog when she starts barking

Nah. I've seen fellas getting their legs blown off. Being thrown onto main roads, blowing up in front of peoples feet etc.

    Must be where you're living.

Until the Gardai (aka Police Academy cast) are shafted and we bring in some real police, they'll be banging away every Halloween.

We're talking about Ireland, not Iraq.

There's been loads of bangers, from what I've heard.
Going off every night where I live. So long as they're not hurting animals, I don't care about the noise ... Although, they probably are :(

    Ah c'mon, really?

I live at the arse end of a development on the coast, no bangers round here apart from the 1991 corolla that keeps parking in my fooking space.

No. Not Iraq. Not Dublin, Limerick, Cork or even Galway

As ridiculous as this might sound, there have been fudge-all bangers going off in Limerick this year. It's been quite quiet really.

(gun-shots and pipe-bombs excluded, of course...)

The only banger I've heard so far this year was a 94 Micra!

Been to IKEA 2 days ago. Leaving the car and coming back (which took longer due to 3 tonnes of furniture and loading all that stuff) it sounded like Beirut.
Just spend more time around Ballymun and Finglas, you'll hear plenty of bangers.
Reminds me, must dash and get supply of fireworks for the party...

less bangers and fireworks are one of the benefits of the recession

I've been eating the same amount of sausages as I have last year. The recession hasn't gotten to me at all.

    Heh! Heh! Heh!

Cause you see.... ha! ha! ha!..... in slang terminology..... hee! hee! hee!...... a sausage is sometimes...... hoo! hooo! hoooooo!...... referred to as a 'banger'. Aaaahhhahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!

    Oh I kill me!

Are you for real? It's worst than ever this year... last night I was woken up half a dozen times in the middle of the night by bangers going off and kids messing around with shopping trollies. They were swing each other around in them on the street and banging them into whatever cars that were parked on the road. This morning when I was walking to the bus stop I noticed there was the smell of burned plastic in the air... they must have set a load of bins on fire as well last night... if its like this now half a week before Halloween, I'm dreading what its going to be like on Saturday night.

I think they should keep the kids in school during Halloween week. And instead of giving them a mid term break, give them an extra week at christmas or something. But if the kids were in school at this time of the year, I think it would cut down on this type of behaviour.
