Hi, Over the last few months I feel like it's been one piece of bad luck after the other. First I end up crashing my car and causing a lot of damage and this really got me down. Then I end up in hospital and am laid up for a long time and not able to work. Then today, I end up causing more damage to my car. I feel like I'm just unlucky and this is really starting to get me down. Any suggestions on how to buck this unlucky trend or even advice on how to get rid of this down feeling?

You are completely in control of your life, remember that. Youre not having an "unlucky trend"...that´s superstition. I´m really not being smart here but would you consider getting rid of your car? Is it essential? Cars are death traps...if you REALLY need it (i.e. you´re nowhere near public transport), then fine but if not, I would sell it. Most people I know have had accidents in Ireland and somebody dies from a road accident daily....these facts alone hae turned me off ever buying a car....and they´re partly responsible for destroying the environment.

Ah sweetie, big hug for you. Don't worry, you're not unlucky, I don't believe in superstition since I decided to test it by continuously smashing mirrors and walking under ladders, - only joking. It can seem like you're unlucky but it's just life, sometimes it sucks. Don't be all depressed and moopy, it'll make everything feel worse, things will get better. Onwards and upwards!!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply Eve Dublin and PeggyPeg, I know you're both right, it's just one of those things. I suppose after I got sick and ended up in hospital, it meant that when I eventually got home, the little things that I used to enjoy like a game of racketball, or a glass of wine or a night out in the pub were non-runners (because of the medication I'm on). As regards the mishaps with the car, I'll have to forget about them and just get on with it. I suppose I was feeling down cos I don't see any opportunities for anything enjoyable until I get better. But hopefully that won't be too long now. Onwards and Upwards Peggy, you're dead right. Thank you both.

You've had a bad time of it but just focus on the fact that it won't last for ever and that things will improve. The good times that are soon to follow will be that bit sweeter for you too because you will appreciate them more. So best foot forward and look forward to the good times ahead instead of spending all your energy on what has been and gone m'dear:)

Thanks Miss Fluff for taking the time to reply. You're right, once I get over this bad period, I'll definitely savour the good times that follow and will appreciate these good things even more. I've been feeling like I'm getting over my hospital stay in the last few days, so that's a good thing. As someone said to me today, it will seem like all these bad things are coming at once. Listen, ye're all very good and have helped me focus on the good stuff to come. I'll get the car fixed, spend the money on it and forget about it. Once I get a bit better, I'll take in a few walks and hook up with some pals. I feel a bit stupid now making a big deal out of nothing. But thanks everyone for your good advice, I'm heeding it.

    Hi OP,

I can completely relate to your post, I have had a similar situation. Had a growth on my neck removed, took 6 wks to recover, the day after i broke my arm in 25 places, was getting physio trying to get my arm moving when 6 months lateri had a car crash and I am back to square one with my arm. In the middle of this my long term relationship broke up, i lost serious money on stocks, I couldn't get a job because of my arm, I have my own company so can't claim dole and have no money coming in, my sister got pregnant, lots and lots of stuff. But I know that I have been attracting this bad luck to myself as everything was getting me down and I was negative so everything around me was negative.

I am now reading 'The Secret' and now I don't know if you believe in it or not but small things are starting to come right after an entire year of bad luck. I would recommend it as at least it helps you to focus on some good stuff. Even if it does take time.

Anyway - I feel for you and wish you all the best. Hope things start to get better

    LucyLu,

    OP here again.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. When I read your story mine pales into insignificance. I wish you all the best for the future and hope things pick up for you in your health and in your work and finances as well. I don't know whether it's a coincidence or not, but the book you refer to - I saw someone else with it yesterday. I mentioned in an earlier post that someone said to me that it would seem like a lot of these bad luck items comes at once - he had been given that book on loan by a friend (he himself has had to deal with some big issues in the last 4 years). I'm going to see if I can lay my hands on a copy. LucyLu, I wish you all the best again and thank you very much for your words of advice and support, I greatly appreciate it.

Having similar issues myself the last 6 months. It seems to be one thing after another. My business unraveled after many successful years after my business partner decided to go it alone and screw me over in the process so I've had very little work lately. I've had a number of issues with my house and my car resulting in big costs. My sister is seriously ill at the moment also, and i'm wondering where it will all end.

My wife and family are very supportive and i'm hoping that this streak will end soon, and some good luck will come my way!

You are not alone, life can be very tough sometimes
