Ok so here's the story,I did my leaving cert last year, started a course and dropped out for a few reasons, didn't like the course, was living away from boyfriend and was extremely lonely...so I start a new course this year living with boyfriend, and really unhappy in the course...the facts are,I need to stay living here, paying rent etc... My parents are going to be so disappointed,I have rang a few colleges and there is no way I can apply now for them, and I need an excuse to live up here,I really really want to get into a college so I can just say, look i'm not happy in the course, found this course wahey! Working isn't really an option as it's no reason for my parents to let me stay living here..

I'm in a hurry and so worried about letting people down

Sorry but can you explain your post again please ?
Did you finish the Leaving cert ? Or you did and got into a course you didn't like ?

If I were you I'd finish the course even if I hated it, simplist all round and it can't be that bad, unless it's like Taxidermy or something.

I did finish the leaving cert, got on well (400+points) and got into a course I didn't like...in fairness it was my 6th choice on the cao :p

I dont think finishing this one is an option either,It's a very small, practical course which doesn't suit me at all and I'm really very unhappy.

Talk to your college about the possibility of transferring to another course they offer, if there's one you're interested in. If you're in first year you probably have a course adviser/Tutor person as well that you could go and speak to about ways to get on better with the course you're doing now.

Courses are in general over-subscribed this year, I really don't think you stand a chance of getting into another college. So if you want to stay living where you are, and I guess your parents are paying your rent and won't pay it just so you can live with your boyfriend, the best thing to do is try to make your current course/college work for you and possibly look into transferring somewhere new with next years intake

    Why would you do that?

How is being unhappy for 4 years and wasting all that money and energy getting a degree in an area you obviously have no interest in working in the simplest option?

Would you consider doing a PLC for one year OP and reapplying next year? I think PLCs are more lax on entry and can make exceptions. At least then you can tell your folks you´re not wasting the year and your reapplying to do a course with more job opportunities (parents love to hear that) next year.

Which county do you live in? Here´s the website for Dublin...

    http://www.codubvec.ie/index.cfm/do/plc_courses/

I did a PLC when I fecked up my leaving cert because I spent too much time galavanting around with a boy and got my last offer on my CAO, which I took cos I was desperate. Left that course and did a PLC....one of the best moves I ever made in hindsight. You can do a course for 1 year or you can go as far as a degree in some courses.

Whatever ye do, don´t panic. This situation is not the worst thing that can happen....at least you realised you hate your course now instead of 6 months down the line...happens all the time :)

It's actually a PLC i'm doing, and I really want to get back to lecture situations,an honours degree..but I am considering transferring to something a little more enjoyable for the remainder of this year, and reapplying next year so thanks very much for the advice! ''job opportunities'' that's a good one,i'll use that :p
