HK416

    Dear all,

(Hope this is the right place for the thread, since I am not new to the sport, nor am I reviewing the HK416 or am I selling one)
I am looking at getting my filthy M4 hands on a HK416. I know that VFC and JG both do a version of it, and CA has come out with their Sportline version. But my questions are:

    1. Is there other makes of the HK416?

    2. Is the VFC version worth the €400 when JG is going for less than half the price?

    3. Or should I go half way with the CA version? If so, is the CA version full metal?

    4. Personally, don't like them PEQ boxes. If needed, is it pain in the arse to wire it to the stock?

    5. Are the rails on the HK416 the same as the standard M4's? I have seen rails on HK416 which are slight different than the M4s.

    6. Can I assume that the mags for the HK416 is the same as the M4s?

    7. Am I correct to say that the only difference between a HK416 and a M4 in the airsoft world is the externals?

    Thanks folks.

There is the G&G version which is less than the VFC and arguably a better AEG but less accurate to real thing in looks compared to the VFC which is bang on. The G&G has a slingtly redesigned RIS front end, a custom pistol grip and a SCAR flashider but it does have some nice EBB action.

I love my VFC 416 though, got it wired to the stock and got a crane stock installed here in Eirsoft for a good price. Thinking about putting the standard stock back on and sticking a lipo in the stock tube.

Rails are all 20mm standard, mags are Stanag so no worries.

G&G and Dboys also do one

    2. Is the VFC version worth the €400 when JG is going for less than half the price? Depends if you want quality, the VFC would be more true to the real 416 than the JG
    3. Or should I go half way with the CA version? If so, is the CA version full metal? Avoid CA full stop

    4. Personally, don't like them PEQ boxes. If needed, is it pain in the arse to wire it to the stock? Some come ready wired to the stock or like the G&G can take a battery under the rail.

    5. Are the rails on the HK416 the same as the standard M4's? I have seen rails on HK416 which are slight different than the M4s. They're all 22mm RIS rails.

    6. Can I assume that the mags for the HK416 is the same as the M4s?
    Yep.

    7. Am I correct to say that the only difference between a HK416 and a M4 in the airsoft world is the externals? Basically yes:)

    Thanks folks.

SRC make one as well but the price is pretty heavy! I have one and have been working on it as a project piece so far I have had to rip out the gearbox and all the internals as I was looking fro something a little higher rof and accurate. the externals are really nice but instead of HK it has SRC. Only a minor thing from a distance you wouldnt notice.

The only reason I changed all the internals (she is running on G&P internals) is because I bought it second hand, but again the gearbox is pretty high torque and so you wont get a high rate of fire.

And yes they take m4 mags and the only difference in the airsoft verisons is the externals!

Firstly, thanks for all the response. However, now the can is opened and I got worms everywhere...

In relation to G&G's version, I can't find it on their website. A link to any retailers would be appreciated. The same goes to Star Rainbow Corporation.

Back to the rails, I have seen rails on the HK416 like this /----\, instead of the M4 rails <====> (sorry about the graphics:o), hope you know what I am getting at.

    Thanks again.

I got the DBOYS/Kalash one from eirsoft. Full metal, full trades, she's an absolute beauty, my favourite without a doubt. I had them rewire the connectors into the back and bought a crane stock.

Comes with a vert grip, peq box, barrel extension, 2 sets of front sights, Hi-cap, tools.
Some people are put of by the fact that the body is grey rather than black.
If you search the review section, gerrowadat did a review on it.

    EDIT: Voila http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055593924&highlight=hk416

Eirsoft stock the G&G 416, G&G have it listed under the Top Tech name they call it the 418 due to trademark issues.

Captain C, does the G&G version come with a changable barrell? Or is it fixed as D14.5RS? I am more interested in the D10RS version.

There is another version, a more up to date, JG on the go. It has the 417 club foot type stock which takes a crane type battery, it's full metal and comes complete with a mosfet. It's the short barreled version, if that's what you're after.
I picked mine up from Toy Soldiers, not sure if they're in stock but it might be worth a look?

    Happy shopping!!

The G&G (Top Tech) is stocked locally by Eirsoft and the SRC by MIA.

As far as I know it's fixed at 14.5 but i guess you could get a short barrel and change the flashider?

    Ok, Jonnie my young man.

As the proud owner of two of them, You are talking about two different beasts. If you want the best of the lot, the VFC is the one to go with.
But there is another make you haven't looked at. The SRC is pretty darn good too.
I'd give her the edge over the other clones (including the one's with blowback) The build quality is fantastic.

It comes with a PEQ box, but that can be fixed with a rewiring job (ask Gyle about that one)

And yes, the rail mounts are standard. My M203 and all of my optics fit just fine on both. Neither of them have any issue with using CA, DBoys, Army, Ares midcap or hi-cap mags.

They are good reliable and accurate. If you want, I'll let you road test both and see what you come up with yourself before buying.

    +1 on the VFC.
I love it (but might be hard to get)

You can still get them, just not with the real H&K trades anymore. They have VF 416 on the receiver now like all the US versions did. VFC have GBB 416 on the way supposedly with what looks like the real trades again somehow.

Internally though the G&G is the best 416, externally it's the VFC hands down. All the other brands are off in one way or another that are fairly noticeable to me anyway.
The VFCs have nylon bushings and need a small shim job that can be done when you're modding the crane stock as the gearbox has to opened for the rewire.

The VFC gears are self shimming (at least they are in my 416 and SCAR)

edit: -from memory- been ages since they were opened but pretty sure they were. You're spot on regarding the nylon bushings but personally I dont think they're bad. I ran my scar with about 40 or 50K rounds through it and the motor died before the bushings. Infact they and every other internal component was perfect when I opened it.

Changed the bushings for bearing ones while I was at it and did the 416 bushings when I did the crane stock rewire like you said. ;)
I havent looked inside the G&G to make a comparison yet.

It was a while ago I got it done but I may have mis-understud what was said. I don't do much tinkering with gearboxes. I'd end up with a flux capacitor by the time I'm done with it otherwise.

    Sorry to go Off Topic
    :D:D:D
but Ahhh the old Flux Capacitors!;)

    I have one (broken sadly)!!

There's a few for sale here:
    http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=28

    $178,000:eek:

I could go back and buy shares in VFC! heck no - H&K!:D

I have been all over the VFC website and they don't seem to be doing the 416 anymore!!

WGC appear to have a few super dx versions.

    http://www.wgcshop.com/wgc2008/main/product_detail1.php?search_From=category&item=VFC-AEG-HK416DX&search=category&rs=VFC AEGs

Never liked the VFC website - it just irritated me...
I expect they are still making it tho...
