Irish Racing at its worst

Just watched the first race at Punch between Sweeps Hill and Some Present, two horses who ran Dunquib close last year. Could have been a good pointer.

The first mile of the race was walked and I don't mean trotted, I mean walked. Some present took it up and was so slow that the horse nearly ran out. He then wanted a lead, so sat back, as did all the others and the race turned into a farce. It finally turned into a 3f sprint.

All jockeys should be banned under the non triers act, imo.

Giving Irish Racing a terrible name.

A bit of an overreaction. Its not the first its happened and its not exclusive to this country either, sure it happens on the flat all the time. The jockeys aren't trying to lose.

Just watched it on ATR. In fairness, Russell tried to make it, but the horse had second thoughts about jumping the first, and tried to run out at the second, so he had no option but to drop back to be with the field to ensure the horse jumped for him. And he didn't try to run out because of the pace, it was to do with the fact that the horse thought he might be able to get away without jumping.

I don't admire the others for not coming upsides him, though. Ok, McCoy reckoned he had the pace to win in the type of finish that ensued, but the other 2 runners didn't have the turn of foot, so they should have tried run a slightly quicker race to suit themselves a bit better.

Chester is a sharp turning track which would result in a slower distance races,

Punchestown is a large galloping track and imo careca is dead right that this was a farce of race. Why one of the rags couldnt go and make it a decent race i dont know. First four places all recieved some money so there was no excuse. There could be only one winner with the way the race was ran. (montgeu bred v presenting bred)
The result was not a true reflection on either horses ability and we'll have to wait another day to get the true result

That made me laugh, they both finished 10L off Dunguib when they met, albeit Sweeps Hills won the race when Dunguib was disqualified but saying they ran Dunguib close is incorrect.
