IT Support roles in Ireland

I'm coming back to Ireland soon after 2 years abroad. A silly prospect you might think but some of its personal and other financial.

I have 9 years IT experience in mainly 2nd and 3rd level. Is there many unemployed IT support people in Ireland at the moment ? or is the market stable for the likes of fixed term contracts etc ?

I'd like to hear from people that work in the industry, not nonsense and word of mouth.

I work for a company that went from nearly 50 support agents to maybe 5 3-level agents a while back, the other roles was relocated to other EU countries.

Haven't heard of any jobs going in the industry, but then I'm not looking, thankfully.
Maybe up in the pale, Cork, Limerick?

I put my CV out there, and yes, there are quite a few Support jobs in Dublin. Do a quick monster search. You will find plenty.

There are loads out there. If you're bilingual.

What areas do you work in? There is shortages in virtualisation, storage, backup support roles.

My company is hiring 3 BA's a vb programmer 2 senior analysts and a pc supports analyst over the next couple of months so things arent that bad.

Citywest seems to always have a good bit of work too.

If you dont mind location you ll find work.

I just returned home after a year abroad and for the last 2 weeks I've been applying to jobs that suit my experience perfectly, 3 years technical/desktop support. Haven't heard anything back from about 15 jobs I applied directly for except the usual "We have received your CV and your application will be considered etc etc etc". I called a recruitment agency and they have at least organised an interview for me next week. I'm not too worried though because I reckon November and December are probably the worst time to be looking for a job and I can wait till January.

Thats what I'm thinking. I'll be starting my hunt in January. Thats usually when the IT budget gets renewed for most companies and then they can think ahead.

The christmas period is usually pretty dry, especially for contracts.
