How do I change avi to dvd format?

Hi all,I'm trying to change my avi movies to dvd format so I can watch them on a regular dvd player.
So in short a need a program that will change format and burn to dvd,free
software would be ideal.

How quick is this?

I currently use Nero to convert and sometimes takes 40 mins to convert.

Might be a better option to get a dvd player that can play avi files. If you use avi a lot it would work out in the long run. Encoding avi to DVD format is fairly slow.

Best idea, have a look in ALDI and LIDL. They sometimes sell DVD players which have a USB port, making it very easy to just plug in a USB key or external hard drive. They read AVI files.
Some of the cheapest DVD players also read DATA discs, so you can easily make a DATA disc in Nero or most other media programs, and play them in one of these DVD players.
I have an expensive DVD player sitting in the cupboard now because a 30 euro one from ALDI is more versatile with it's USB port.

SUPER does it, but it might be a little slow (been a while since i used it for DVDs). Nevertheless it's worth downloading, I haven't come across a file format it couldn't handle before.

Anyone know where to buy a avi/dvd player like the one's from Lidl?

dvdflick has changed since i downloaded it then.

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html is freeware. It will create the vob files for you. Then you use something like http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDAuthorgui(also freeware) to create the menu (although the VOB files you make in super have to be demuxed).

This is the version from the DVD flick homepage, just downloaded there, I have no idea, but its still GPL licensed, open source
