    Hey Folks,

I'm organising a charity golf day next year and want to pick the course soon.
I want to have in in the Dublin maybe surrounding areas region.

Now the thing is i want to keep it cheap for the teams, maybe, €250 for a fourball so this would mean getting a course for a good price.

Which courses do you think i should look at in the higher than average course but still fairly cheap, i.e not Portmarnock or PGA National etc.

I'm thinking along the lines of Newlands, Milltown etc.

    All suggestions welcome!!

I'd say you should ring any of the clubs, even the bigger clubs you think you wouldn't get a good price for. The way things are at the moment I reckon you could get a considerably better course then you imagine if you can guarantee them enough golfers on the day!

I know you would get a deal in most clubs now if you gave them enough numbers. Look for a package including a meal and I'm sure you will not be dissappointed.

South side of Dublin there are a lot. Castle, Grange, Milltown, Edmondstown, Southcounty, Newlands to name but a few.

You could try Glen Of The Downs.... course is always in good nick, food is great and a great setting less than 15 minutes from the Leopardstown exit on the M50!

Tulfarris in Blessington have been offering good deals of late, as they are struggling financially. Its a lovely course if you haven't played it (some slight drainage issues), but last I looked they were offering deals like a 4-ball for €100 so they should be able to give a good deal. Our society had our final outing there, was €60 a man as far as I remember, which included a burger for everyone after the 9th hole and 3 course dinner when we came in. I'm sure they'd do a better deal than that for a charity event as numbers should be higher...and because its for charity.

To be totally honest I would say most clubs apart from your Royal Dublin’s and the likes would accommodate you. You’d be surprised, as we all know clubs need the revenue. Suggestions could be South County than moving up a grade, Carton House, I saw an advertisement that they were doing some good deals recently.
