So out of nowhere Facebook have actually replied to my application (one of the few places doing so right now :D) but want to schedule a "writing test" with me this week. Now I've a Degree and Diploma in journalism so you would think this wouldn't be a problem but I did a similar test for a Court Transcription agency once and it was ridiculously difficult. A few q's to those that might've done one with them:

    1. Has anyone done this test? What does it involve?
    2. The email was from their Recruitment in California and the girl stressed California time and whether I would have access to the internet etc during the test. So is the test not actually in their Hanover Quay HQ and actually over the phone/net?

    Hi!
I'm about to take a test within next few days. Can't find any clues about it on the net. Did you take yours? What did it involve?

    Thanks for sharing ;)

I saw some techy jobs going for Facebook, I assume you're aiming for something where shorthand is required?

Just curious, as I think I'd find it a bit odd for it to be a requirement as a techy.

No. Shorthand is not required. The job is related to User Operations unit at Facebook. The job title is User Operations Analyst.

OP - how long did it take them to get back to you?

Google, facebook etc will almost never have an on-site as your first interview.
OP it sounds like you'll be given some rough documentation/notes and asked to use your technical writing skills to turn it into a document aimed at facebook users or employees.

Can someone please tell me roughly how long it took FB to invite you to an interview from when you submitted your application? I take it that they don't respond if their not interested so anyone with previous experience would be great.

    Thanks!

Hey, just thought I'd reply to this email because I've been getting tons of PM's since I made the thread.

As far as I can remember it took around 3/4 weeks after I had applied for Facebook before they got back in touch. At first I had a phone interview with a woman based in California and a few days later had a writing test.

I had applied for User Operations Analyst, so my writing test q's might possibly be different to what others get, depending on their role application. But anyways, for me it was 2 Q's, one about building Facebook in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa region) and another asking me to demonstrate my favourite facebook feature. 20 mins online and then I emailed my answers back.

After that I had an 3 interviews after another at Facebook, then another the next day (one of the managers was out on the first day). I was told that althought they thought I was qualified for the role, because I come from a sales background they felt I would lose interest in the role and put me forward for a Sales role (Lead Qualifier). This was worrying because the User Operations Analyst role had multiple opening, the Sales role only had one. So I had a new phone interview (with a guy from New York) and went back for 3 back-to-back interviews but didn't get the job in the end. I have a new job for now though - don't be worrying about me :D

Cheers mate, some great info there. Glad to hear you got another job. Seems like facebook may make you jump through a large amount of hoops - but I guess if interest in working for them is so high, then they can.
