Need a solicitor for a court appearance for bald tires?

A friend is due to appear in court in three weeks time and we were just wondering does she need a solicitor for a court appearance for bald tires? She has been summonsed and is going to plead guilty, will not dispute the charge so is a solicitor required? Thanks
