Is there really more sound insulation upstairs compared to the timber framed houses, and i know they say timber framed are better insulated but if we opted to build concrete for sound reasons, can we insulate them it just as well.(But prob with more expense i should think..)

ICF is a well insulated build, most have uvalues under .2 with .11 if you really detail insulation.

With conrete floors you dance a jig upstairs while listening to fairly loud music and not hear a thing downstairs.

We built in TF a few years ago and spec'd up the sound insulation upstairs to a good level (but far from the ultimate) and felt that our house was much quieter than most TF houses I have been in. We then moved to a pre-cast concrete built 3 storey house with concrete floors on all levels and the differance in sound insulation was amazing! I'd find it very hard to go back to a TF house for this reason.

Some on here have mentioned pouring a concrete floor upstairs in a TF house, but it needs to be designed and buitl to take the extra load and this may be costly. Try searching this forum for more info.
